August Long Weekend: Simpson Lake in the Pine Pass
Multi-night trip with exploration and wheeling in some very scenic country.
Probably not stock friendly. I would recommend at least mud tires and good tow points.
Stay tuned for more info...

My preference is to head up Friday, Aug. first, preferably during the day. This will be my first time to Simpson lake, and I'd like to get there in good time to set up camp in the daylight. I can provide some basic directions for those who can't come until later. I expect some light wheeling to get to the lake.

Anybody interested in going?

I'm going either way, but it would be nice to plan with at least another truck...

Rosie and Olivia are coming as well.

My original intent was to camp at Simpson Lake, and then find/drive the trail down from the Lake to the Silver Sands Lodge. Some new information has come to me indicating that the trail itself has only been done by sleds in the winter; not trucks in the summer. I'm hoping that maybe there is a quad trail to follow, but I'm not holding out much hope that it's truck friendly without being a lot of work... If one exists.

Plus, given the forest fire season, it may not be a practical trip if the mountain range is on fire...lol

Anyone got a plan B that's family friendly?

Any interest in this trip? I have found the route via the BC back roads map book that "appears" to hook up with the Silver Sands road network. Its worth at least exploring the area. I'd urge anyone considering the trip to keep tabs on the current forest fire map (there are none in the area currently) and plan accordingly.

Would there be more interest in this trip if it was a day trip only?

Interested people should post up so that a departure time can be figured out.

For those who need directions: Head North via the hwy. The Callazon Creek FSR will be on your left approx 70kms past the Mackenzie Junction. The road is well marked and well used. Cross the bridge over the Pine River and travel down the Callazon FSR approx. 4-6 kms and make a right onto the trail head. Its the only real obvious road on the right side past the powerline access trails. I'll mark the turn with some pink ribbon. I'll mark any turns on the trail with ribbon as well. Enjoy the view on the way up the mountain!
