Road trip for a Hot Rod
Dad and I got back into town on Sunday after a multi-day road trip to the US to get him a new hot rod. We went down to Spokane, WA. to pick up a very nicely done, 95% finished '29 Model A pickup from an estate sale. The truck is a fresh build, sporting only 16 miles on the odometer, with a fresh 283,Th350 combo feeding a '57 Chevy rear end with a 3 link setup and the factory single transverse mounted leaf spring. The front is a 4" drop, drilled solid axle, sporting disc brakes and the original leaf suspension, but with the main spring eye's flipped over to lower it another inch.
The truck was exported from the states with minimal issue, and imported into Canada via the border customs with the usual beaurocracy and paperwork. No real stress, just stressful... Its currently undergoing its provincial safety inspection, and should be cruising the streets in a few days.
The sale add, and a few pictures can be found here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=8761350

Re: Road trip for a Hot Rod
ray , quick question ... do hot rods or vehicles in general have to have fenders to cover their open wheels in Canada ? i know in the US there is no such requirement for hot rods .

In general, yes, tires must be covered (within reason) in BC anyway. But I believe there are a few exceptions relating more to body style than anything else. The final decision rests with the Inspector however, so they have the ultimate say as to how much coverage is acceptable. Street tires seem to be more excuseable than swampers for some reason.
Update - The truck has passed its safety inspection with flying colours, and is now registered, plated, and insured for the next six months. Give Dad a wave if you see him cruising around...

Little is right. I can just fit behind the wheel, but without enough room to actually be able to drive it. With the two of us in it, its more akin to a clown car than a hot rod.
