Weapon 2.0
Thought Id start a thread for my latest build
What I started with some 2x3 tubing
whipped up a little chassis table
In the shop
cut out a bunch of fish plates for the frame
welded on
built a trans cross memeber 2x3 with 2"x .250 dom
Sleveed the holes with some 1 1/4 pipe
installed. mounts will be getting beefed up later
A little help from the forklift. That th400 stak3spd combo is a heavy sombitch
made some new motor mount plates outta 3/8

Thanks . You refering to the trans/t-case? yes they are heavy. that Stak wieghts 140pds alone. As for the rest I think its fairly light. Im trying to keep weight in mind, But it still has to put up with 550+hp and full throttle beat downs. The stock chevy frame I had before was noodled. The 2x3 is only .120 wall. I can pick the entire thing up, has to be less than 200pds. Im shooting for 4000, if its under 4500 Ill be happy. Yes somethings are alittle overkill but I do not want them to fail. I tend to wheel my stuff fairly hard ...

Re: Weapon 2.0
Actually I was refering to everything being "heavy". I get 500+ horse's, and big parts. And I'm all for overkill. I'm thinking your 4k goal is a bit light though. The average KOH race car is still tipping the scales between 4500 and 5500 lbs. And thats using all lightweight components...
Gm frames go all "noodley" because they aren't boxed to begin with, and don't have enough crossmembers. I'm certain you won't have the same problem with this setup...

True on the weight issue now that I think about it. . I was 5600 before, all loaded up. And now that I've decided to run a toy cab on it I prob won't really save a ton if weight. I'm not really to worried about it. It'll be what it'll be lol.
