So, with the Toad taking out a rear axle bearing, I was left either walking, or hastily finishing the 93 4-Runner I have been working on here and there since September......I didn't feel like walking...

Ya. That's what I'm talking about. But fast?
Is that not a 3. Slow under the hood?

It is a 3, but it has been very well maintained...came with a stack of 20 something receipts from Northern Toyota. Everything has been serviced, there, looks like since day one...motor, transmission, t-case, A/C etc. I am also comparing it to a 22RE as well...so it is kinda subjective...

3" body lift, and air over hydraulic shocks in the back for load carrying.

Did some body work on the 93...started as trying to fix the license plate lights, ended up having to buy new wiring from the rear drivers door back to the tailgate..wires were so corroded the more I handled them, the more that snapped off. I also had to replace the rear power window and wiper relay. Being open to the elements from all the rust in the back corners, had destroyed it as well. I figured if I was going to have all new wiring, then it wasn't going to be open to the elements anymore...so began the bodywork.

I filled the corner in with new sheet metal, welded it, then laid a can of rock guard into it.

Then long strand dough on the outside to help seal it...not too worried about the dents.

next on the list is the passenger corner

So got to work on the passenger rear corner over the last couple days. It was in far worse shape then the drivers side. The wheel-well in the passenger rear door was in horrible shape, not to mention how much of the lower quarter had to be removed to find usable metal. If you look hard enough you can see into the back of the runner cargo area from outside.

So began the welding in of new uncorrupted metal.

I decided in the interest of larger tires and flares to turn some of the wheel well up, then weld it to the sheet steel. I was hoping to strengthen it all up a little.
The 93 Before and After IMG_0601_zpsb6600d70

I spread long strand dough over the whole works to help seal up any imperfections. I laid it on thick with the intention of having some room to work later.

While it cured, I inspected the inside to see what I was working with now
The 93 Before and After IMG_0605_zpsbc5b947e

Then decided all it needed now was a copious amount of Rock Guard sprayed into it...one can should do lol

The 93 Before and After IMG_0607_zps0dbde987

Once cured, I sanded, filed, gouged, scraped and chipped it all into a reasonable facsimile of how it should look. Followed by taping and masking.

The 93 Before and After IMG_0609_zps1c3b9c36

I decided to Rock Guard the the quarter from the back of the front passenger door and bottom of the windows down.

Although I like the look of the rock guard when it is fresh, it will look like shit if it gets weathered. I plan to follow the same line up to the front of the truck on both sides, and do the whole tailgate. Then give it a fresh red paint job over the rock guard. I still have to install the flare, and bumper side plate. Then paint the flare to match.

Got it almost where I want it...Kinda like the two tone paint job now...I had plans to repair the red tailgate, upon sanding the paint where there was some rust bubbles forming, I found that the paint was the only thing holding the gate together. I opted to use another gate I had that has no rust in it. The new gate had the tire carrier option, so I had to do some modifications for the License plate holder to fit properly. It came with an extra set of reverse lights, so that is a bonus. An afternoon of masking and painting, and Voila!

Have to decide if I am to do the red paint job now... :?

Either way it looks good, but if you keep it this way, make sure to change the colour indication on your registration. I'm not sure if the fuzz would consider this a black truck or not. Wouldn't hurt to ask...
